About

Tajiran-e Jawan unlocks youth potential for entrepreneurship, providing expert training, mentoring, internships and access to start-up support to Afghanistan’s best and brightest, between the ages of 17 and 30.

Established in 2009, the TJ Project has worked with over 400 students through diverse educational and private sector partners in Kabul, Jalalabad, Mazar-e-Sharif, and Herat.

With a full 68% of Afghanistan’s population is under the age of 25, Afghan youth are inheriting an economy that lacks the opportunities and jobs to support them. To be economically viable, young Afghans must create their own jobs and grow their own businesses.

Generations raised by war-weary parents and communities need structured challenges and opportunities, coaching, and a commitment to social responsibility to overcome the obstacles that block Afghanistan’s progress.

TJ volunteers and staff believe that investment in Afghan youth and new business creation—in every sector—carries a high ROI for long-term economic development.
